How did you break your rod, Chuck? Did
your rod company replace it for you?
I've been pretty fortunate. I've only broken
one rod in my life, and Winston replaced it, free of charge, even though it was
not the fault of the rod. The reel (a Teton) clutch fried while fighting a
sailfish, and the rod came down on the side of the boat and snapped like a
twig.
Any interesting rod-breakage stories out
there? Big fish? Car doors? Dock boards? Split-shot
nicks?
(The list is getting slow)
The week before my first Baja trip years ago, there
were 8 hi-dollar rods broken on fish- all by hi-sticking.
