Well, I'm back. (I never actually went off list, I just deleted each day's mail without reading it).

But school is over, the wedding is over, and it is happy time! I plan to try to get some fishing in every day.

Tony, today i bought a drill chuck headstock for my lathe and made a mandrel from a 3/8" carriage bolt. I made my first test using a reel seat blank that I had rejected because the bore had drifted so far off center. It turned perfectly true using the mandrel. So the problems I was having with off-center bores on my finished reel seats were caused by the wooden jigs I was using. Thanks for showing me how to make and use the mandrel.

My first summer project will be to build a rod using one of my own reel seats and a Sage XP rod. I have the blank, and noticed each piece had a white dot on it. I assume this indicates the spline. Does anyone out there know for sure?

Also, does anyone have the spacing for the eyelets for a Sage XP 9ft. 5 wt.?

Thanks, Tom
