Neville,   If I was to buy one, which I probably will shortly, I would spend those additional $9 without blinking. I was tying with the horizontal mounted one at Sowbug and saw the advantage with having the light source straight from above the fly. I haven't tried the vertical mount of that particular light, but I have tried several other lights which have had the light coming in from behind the fly. They have made it much easier to see the top of my left hand when tying, but that is not what I have been interested in for the moment. I'd easily pay the extra $9 for having a light that can get past my hand when working.   I'm curious though. What is the disadvantage you're seing. The 12H(orizontal) is mounted horizontally and the 12V(ertical) is mounted vertically (like the 8V, giving the light from a rear angle)...   /Nick
