I have one on my 4 wt. which is my dry fly outfit.  On the 5 wt. I do not because I do so much nymphing with the 5 wt.  Now the questions: Do any of you use it with a nymphing rig?  How much tippet do you use with a furled leader set up (dry or nymphing)?  Do you find colors make a difference in the leaders.  I have one in florescent orange which is easy to see and I love that but I think I get less takes.

I've been using them for at least 5 years or more.  Swapped some tying materials with Jim Hatch on the old Virtual Fly Shop Chat room.  I don't make them but usually swap flies, hooks or tying materials.  Once I tried them I've never went back to the standard leaders.
Most of the furled leaders are 5 to 7 feet long.  I usually start with 5 feet of tippet material.  I use them for trout and warm water fishing.  Haven't gotten around to using them in salt water.
All the ones I have are made from thread.  I wasn't that impressed by the mono ones I've tried.

Would one have to increase the length of the tippet if using a furled leader??
