I've used the vice in the BPS kit. It was my first one and it held a hook alright. I tied 14 to 1/0 on it. I did wear it out after 6 months or so. I then upgraded to a traveler. I went in with the mindset that I'd be upgrading the vice and buy a better one after I knew what I liked/disliked.
