Hey, Tony - I thought I had mentioned that material (the mayfly spent wing material) to you... guess it was someone else, but yes, it LOOKS and ACTS like a PE- based foam but he slow-cools it SOMEhow so that it is much more supple than the packaging foam I've seen and tried. If you figure-of-8 over a thin piece for wings, it MAY get cut, but I've only experienced that a few times -- and with kevlar or gsp threads. I think I tied my Porcupine Dragon for a swap on the VFB at one point in time... in any event, I tie a dragonfly with the Mayfly spent-wing material, a porcupine quill painted with a pale- blue sharpie then lashed to a dry hook, and a touch of royal- blue dubbing at the thorax. Even with a huge set of 2"-wide wings, the tippet rarely (once) twisted on me! Now of course, one fish and the fly is a goner... but it's worth it :)
Great guy also, but the material speaks for itself.
Tight wraps,
Pete
