What exactly is the twisted rod, are they useful or just fun to design, and
are they difficult to make??

Yes, I have now have made two twisted bamboo rods. My
first one , "The Twisted Miss" I still have, it will
be passed down. The second one is now owned by Royce
Dam.
He picked it up when he was here for the Sowbug. I
have an order for the third one.
