Lance: I have a cpl Videos with Poul Jorgenson and I love his work also.. He is so quiet, and laid back in the videos, takes his time and and makes it look soooo simple...(and he uses More saliva in tying than anybody I've ever seen, but it DOES work LOL) and he takes the time on the ones I have to stop and give tips that even a green newbie can learn from... That in of itself makes Him a "Master Tier" IMHO, cause the willingness to teach others goes a LONG ways in my book...I haven't seen any of Roman Sharabun's work but willlook it up.. I tell ya, at least for Me, that question is turning out to be a pretty good one, cause I am searching (and finding) a lot of the tiers mentioned in the answers here, and they have given me a LOT of new ideas, and with cold weather coming, a new inspiration to be a better tier with each passing week, month and year...Thanks for the links, Chuck

Folks: I saw where Lord Byron Nelson passed away today (yesterday now) at 94 (one site I read said he was 95 so I'm not sure). Many would consider him the all time greatest golfers with 18 wins with 11 consecutive wins in 1945..That got me to thinking.. We have some great and long time tiers here. Who would ya'll say is the best ever fly tier??? I know I'll probably get as many answers as I get replies LOL, but I just wondered if there is somebody that stands out in many minds??? Or how bout , who was/is the greatest fly fisherman/woman Chuck
Chuck,

Interesting.. we had a similar discussion recently about what constitutes a 'Master' of Fly Tying.

Without having read the rest of the replies yet (and I look forward to reading them), my vote internationally
would likely go with Poul Jorgenson.

And... locally... would be the late Roman Sharabun.
