I have caught a 12 lbs (6 kilos) pike and it was not any problem at all. I
use kevlar or braided line (Fire line) as a core in some of my leaders and
am quite satisfied with them. I enclose one for you to try yourself.

If you have a powerful fish on, can't it create the same problem? Do they
have good shock absorbency? Would a kevlar leader, as opposed to a tying
thread leader, have the same problem?
Thanks Sören,
R

Reuven,
The dots over the letter "O" makes it the last letter in the Swedish
alphabet and is pronounced almost similar to the "i" in the word "bird".
We
have it on our (Swedish) keyboards.
The only negative aspect I have noticed about the furled leaders is that
they can create a mess like a birds nest if you pull hard in the line
after
hooking a branch or a stone etc.
I use furled leader all the time and I'm really satisfied with them. I
make
them myself and I recommend you to try that, it´s very easy and the costs
are negliable.

Thanks Soren:
So how do you get those double dots above your name??
I have one more question. Are there any negative aspects to using furled
leaders?

Reuven,
I have been dying to try making furled leaders. What is the best site to
get
info from on how to make them??
Thanks,
R
Claude Freaner of NASA has a couple of pages on furled leaders. The
main
page is at:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/freaner/furling/furled.htm
Be sure to click on the links in his page to get his drawing and spread
sheet.
