personal favourite is Silver Butcher tied as a streamer ... also works for sea run brownies.

Hook . 8 to 12 long shank streamer hook
Thread . black
Tail . strip of red dyed goose or bunch or red hackle fibers
Body . flat silver
Rib . Oval silver
Hackle . Black hen as a collar or as a beard
Wing . pair of black cock hackles tied back to back reaching just short of tip of tail
Head . black

variations -
gold or copper body and rib
hackle - scarlet, orange, yellow, bright blue, emerald green

iain

does anyone out there have any good streamer patterns that are extremely effective in still water (ie/ Lake or Pond)? besides, the usual wooly buggers, strip leeches, and egg sucking leeches.
