Tom Nixon told me a story once. Apparently when they first started having bass tournaments in Louisiana, he and a buddy entered. They waited till the bass boats took off, then unloaded their canoe from the car and paddled around the corner. Cutting a long story short (Tom was a great story-teller), they won. The next week they entered another one..........and won. The third week, the notice of the tournament specified that no fly-fishing was allowed.

I believe there is a rule even now that makes fly-fishing tactics ineligible, although I don't know that for certain.
