That's who made the box (just couldn't recall the name), but Mike had collected
a set of Tom's flies over the period of several conclaves and made the box with
gorgeous labels for all the flies. Each fly was in its own separate cutout in
the box. The box was constructed by Mike but the flies were tied by Tom. The
shadowbox with the set of Tom Nixon from the first Tom Nixon swap I hosted went
for about $40 at our local conclave. About the same number in each box...tells
you which are in more demand.

the honor of
tying beside him at three Conclaves. He inscribed my
books and I have a couple of his flies. One is the
"Pig Boat". Before I met him, I had tied the Pig Boat
along with a couple of other bass flies from his book
for a bass fly contest. I took first place. Later on
when I met Tom, I told him about that and we became
instant friends. I still lived in N.J. and we
corresponded by mail and swapped materials.
You must be talking about Mike Verdine that tied the
flies for the Shadow box. Mike was a dear friend that
is really missed. I have one of Mikes Hornets. The
Hornet is shown and Mike is mentioned in Jack Ellis's
tape on fishing for Panfish. Mike could do wonders
with deer hair. I am proud to have several packages of
his tying materials that were given to me after his
passing.
Now about my Froggies, You can have all you want at my
living price, I will not jack up the price till I am
gone. You you are tight, me first ones looked like
crap. I still have a couple of them. LOL Been tying
them since 1989.
