You might want to try "Newskin" on the cracks. It comes in a little bottle and works on the same principle as super glue, but it has FDA approval. It works for me.

I've tried Newskin. I didn't like it quite as well as "stupor" glue, but that's just my personal opinion. Can't remember why. Maybe it took too long to set up? I've still got the bottle, I'll try it again.
