Hi all, One word of caution. Problems with cracking and splitting skin, especially when accompanied by small water blisters is often the result of skin allergies.
I've had a long-time problem with what is termed "contact dermatitus", a result of decades of exposure to photographic darkroom chemicals. Due to the oversensitization of skin on my fingers and hands, all sorts of chemical exposure can set off episodes of blistering, drying, and cracking. (For example, careless and unprotected use of WD-40 is guaranteed to cause me grief.) I've tried every over-the-counter remedy you can think of to heal the skin and mitigate the sensitivity, including all the products mentioned so far and then some. (whew!) The only product I found that has done the trick for me is a MSM lotion, specifically the Rich's MSM Lotion brand. That brand combines MSM (organic sulfur) with aloe vera, jojoba oil and tea tree oil. Here's the link for one place to get it online: http://www.kornax.com/MSM_Lotions.htm If you get desperate, it's truly worth a try. Use it several times a day on the affected areas.
