I started life spin fishing.  My first spinning reel was set up to wind rh.  I used to cast rh or lh depending on which suited me at the time. Over time I found I liked casting lh with the spin stick as I didnt have ot change hands to wind.

Strangely however, when i first started ff I learned to cast RH, so I set up my reels as LH wind.

So I guess I am a winder with the non casting hand ! :-)

If I have to borow a mates fly rod I cant use it if it is RH wind... too wierd ( unless I get better at LH casting !)

Thankyou all for your input, but
1. I am right handed, that means if at all possible i like the rod in the right hand.
2. If possible i wind the reel with the left hand.
3. I can wind with either hand but prefer to wind only only with the left
4. This applies to trout rods, salmon rods, surf rods, Boat rods, etc.
5. Result - This left hand wind reel is on its way to its new home.
