Years ago, My Momma, Daddy, Grand Mother and Uncle had gone fishing in Daddy's boat, and when they came back in My Uncle Freddy helped Maw Maw up on the dock.. She was holding her Spinning reel as they had been crappie fishing and she had a #2 wire Crappie hook on it.. Well, the hook caught Freddy right his ear lobe.. He starts screaming "Oh Momma, oh Momma".. She looks down and saw what she had done to her only son, and starts screaming and flailing the rod and reel in the air, which had Freddy on his tip toes soooo far he went from 6' 2" to about 6' 8" trying to lift himself up enough to take some pressure off his ear LOL.. Daddy had to clip the barb end off, and pull the hook through Freddy's ear... We laffed till we cried, but Freddy failed to see the humor at the time... Chuck

I wonder if I should tell you about the 2" Green Sunfish that Amanda hooked
one time. When she set the hook it got her Mom in the cheek and me in the
forehead. Worst part was when she went to throw it back she hooked my right
ear.

No, she may not like me telling that story, so I won't.

I thought I was unique having a male Blue- jay dive for and peck at a
miller
dry- fly while I was fishing the Pickering creek last year (just snagged on
the beak; he let go and nearly took out my eye when the fly hurtled back
towards me...), but that pelican story has me beat by a landslide!

Not that this is somehow something I would actually want to share, but my
wife loves to point out that I did catch a lake trout in Maine, but it was
such a small fingerling that when I went to set the hook, it literally
caused the fish to fly out of the water and (yes, really) slap me in the
forehead... umm, now why am I admitting this again? (for those concerned,
the hook didn't even puncture its jaw, and to the best of my knowledge the
fish was fine - shy of the humiliation of having been caught by such a
clumsy fly fisherman and shy of a rocket- trip through the air...)

Again, why am I sharing this? ;)
Tight lines,
Pete
