We don't have Bull Frogs in Utah, but I caught one in a local pond here anyway. I have no idea where it came from. I just dangled a fly in front of its eyes (the rest of the frog was in the water) and suddenly had a bull frog hooked by its 24" tongue. It was quite embarrassing.

Another time I was fishing at a local pond and a small boy slipped behind me during my back cast and got a Wooly Bugger in his ear. His father came over when he heard the commotion, and I told him how I thought he should remove the hook from his boy. To my surprise he threw up his arms and said "no way, no way, you do it" and left! Luckily it wasn't deep (though in past the barb) and I was able to pop it out with out much difficulty.

Are we talking strictly flies here?

On bait-hooks and lures: Snakes, turtles, alligators, pelicans & gulls (ate live bait), salamanders (mud-dogs), choupique, frogs

Snagged: Snakes, alligators, and a nutria.

On flies: a huge soft-shell turtle, sea-gulls, a 'junior' gator, cotton-mouths/watersnakes, bull-frogs, sting-ray

Subject: [VFB] What have you caught on your flies?

Chuch made me think of something that I have wanted to ask. What other than fish have you hooked on your fly?

I have hooked and lost a bat, a muskrat and a pelican (actually he took my trout and flew away with my line. Got the line back when the tippet broke. Any one else?

Mike
