i do the same things! normaly the "hybrid" fly is the one that catches me the
fish!

I do that all the time. I often tye three or four flies to get "back in the
swing" with a certain pattern before I start tying for a swap. Of course those
flies have to have somewhere to go and have a purpose for existence. Thus they
take up residence in my flyboxes. LOL
