And what I have caught 90% of them on is an orange "gill getter" or "brim buster" fly..size 8 or 10 hook, a few wraps of .015 lead wire about middle ways of the hook shank.. Lay down a fire orange thread base.. Tie in a black squirrel tail tail, then snip it off straight across and short (only about 1/4 inch past the back of the hook)..tie in fireburst orange (Or I have caught a bunch on flies JUST like this one, but in a chartreuse chenille body).. Tie in one pair, or two pair of black or brown rubber legs and trim SHORT. (I was missing too many fish on the longer rubber legs) I clip the front legs to about 1/4 inch length, and the rear legs about 3/8" past the back of the hook. This give the legs just enough length to have some "action", but short enough to not miss many fish barely longer than the tail..I tie that thread off, and glue it in. Then, i tie in a red thread head.. and I troll the coast.. Cast to within a foot or two of the bank (as they are on the bed here) and if they don't hit it within 5 seconds, there is not a fish there, so I cast again.. I have been catching 25-30 every time I go out, and usually in a 2-3 hour trip... Anybody want a pic of one of these flies, email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] I want to bass fish more this year, but the place I normally fish is about fished out of bass, cause I'm about the only bluegill fisherman (or woman) that goes there, but I'm trying to get a 5hp or so gas motor running so I can go down to the river in the backwater and fish for bass there..But, I have caught 5-6 small bass off this fly this year as well..Funny how fish will bite one fly great one year and another the next. That has been my experience anyway.. I have also caught a few crappie, some bluegills, and a cpl bass off chili peppers this year as well. i think you could catch fish with a Chili Pepper in your bath tub LOL...Chuck
