Well folks.. I finally did it.. I figured out what the bluegills wanted..And
WHERE they are hiding... A wetfly tied yellow with black stripes as a Yellow
Jacket.. And, a chartreuse "Gill Getter" with a red yarn short tail. Short
black (or brown) legs, and a red thread tail.. All tied on #12 nymph hooks..
But, my wife says she is NOT going fishing with me any more... I caught 55-60
in 3 1/2 hours..Most were small, but one or two went over half a pound. She was
using the same fly, same water, same boat and caught ZERO.. Yep ZERO...Anyway,
the WHERE is this.. That whole watershed has grass growing all along the edge..
and they are hiding IN that grass.. So, I had to throw the fly within inches of
the grass...Sometimes even bouncing the fly off the grass.I was lucky as I only
hung up and lost two flies as close as we had to get.. but, my wife can cast
just as accurately, and as far as I can... So, go figure... She says it was
magic.. I say "I was holding my mouth right"... Don't know what the heck that
Means, but My parents both said it. All My grand parents always said it, and my
Great Grandmother used to say it.. If you were not catching anything they'd
say "You ain't holding your mouth right"... Guess it was a Southern, or Alabama
thing LOL.. But I guess it worked...I'm just glad to break out of my "dry
spell".. so to speak as it has now been 37 days here without a drop of rain,
and fires are starting up in the Nat'l Forest which is where I live, so we need
rain BAD... Chuck
