Sounds like you found the trick - just don't the fish know... they always seem to change their preference once I think I figure them out ;)

this (^) reminds me of a boy scout skit where one guy is catching and the other not. The one who isn't catching asks what the trick is and gets "Mmm mmm mm meph mm mmmer mmmermmm" The skunked guy asks "Huh?" and gets the same response.
