  Subject: [VFB] Digital camera suggestion?

  Hello VFB!

My niece asks the following question:

I would like a digital camera that has good picture / video quality while not
being too large (to make it easier to backpack with). Price range and warranty
are also something I'm looking at, and right now I'd say it's in the $100-200
area (though I'd also have to buy a memory card). I really enjoy Canon as a
brand and I *think* my friend's last digital camera was a Powershot S3 (which I
really liked though it was a bit bulky). Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks
so much for your help. :)

  Back live:

Anyone have suggestions? I am not familiar with what is available in her
needed price range. Getting a camera on eBay would also be a possibility, so
feel free to suggest models you like above $200 street price.

My niece graduated last May from the Univ. of Colorado with a B.A. in
English. She is working until October as part of a trail and campsite
maintenance crew based in Gardiner, Montana. She is borrowing cameras to
photograph what she is seeing in the Montana high country. So typically, she's
short of cash and long on wilderness. I will try to post a few of her photos
over the weekend.
