Mart, Henk,

thanks a lot for your help.
One of the gals is my wife, and it will be difficult to drop her off. And I have to take care a bit for the other girls. Therfore, I've to stay close to them. I vould really like to meet you, Henk, but I cannot make it. Thanks a million for the tips. I've googled for the shop and have now a map and directions. The shop closes at 4pm on saturdays, let's see if I can convince the wife to a little walk <G>/

Again, thanks a million.

Rene

Hi,

I know we have more than 2 dutch people on the list...
tomorrow I have the pleasure to drive a load of gals and girls to Amsterdam (in the Netherlands). They want to do some severe shopping. Any idea what can save my day? A flyshop to visit? I'll intend to park the car near the sixt haven and than use the ferry to go to the central station, therefore I'll next to the central station.

No decent flyshop left in Amsterdam -- Peeters moved to Kortenhoef (a stone's throw from where I live...) more than 10 years ago. In my opinion, the tackle shop with the most history left in Amsterdam is Schreiner en Zn, whose namesake was the most prolific Dutch angling writer by far. Their focus was more on spinfishing and carp fishing than flyfishing, but is worth a visit, or rather was, when old Jan Schreiner was still alive. He had long since retired from rod building or running the shop, but could usually be found in the back of the shop, ready to offer advice or tell some tall tales. He sadly passed away earlier this year.

Or you could sneak out for an hour or so, and visit Peeters in Kortenhoef; if you do, give me a holler, and I may just join you there...

Henk
