I have to agree with Neville. I know that the forum may be "the wave of the future" but some of us are more like the "puddles of the present". I enjoy the personal feeling of the list. I agree that perhaps we should try to even artificially stimulate some discussions on flytying. It is unfortunate but my tying time in Hawaii has dwindled. I actually haven't tied at all in a couple of months not since I was getting ready for my vacation to the Yellowstone area in September. But I read and save all the comments that I think will aid me in the coming years. It would be nice to have some aggressive people asking questions or sharing their findings. Maybe we all need to read and test new ideas and then share them here. Everyone taking some responsibility to add some content. I think many of us can point to techniques that we use now that we learned here. We just need to pick it up.
As for Byard - well I really miss his presence. I wish we could meet and fish. I have known him on-line since we were on flyfish@ which was a great list until it started having so much non flyfishing threads. I migrated here to get better and more pointed discussions. If the group wants to move all of this to the forums, I would stay and try it but I think it would lose much of its personality.
