My fishing buddy went up to Strawberry Reservoir (Utah) on Veteran's day and caught (or so he says) 62 trout. These are no ordinary trout, Strawberry Cutthroats are always in the 18 to 22 inch range. Well, I have had a day like myself, so I believed him. A day where you catch a fish every cast, even when you AREN'T casting (I caught several on my fly just tangling below my pontoon boat while I was untangling line).

Anyway, I had hoped for a spectacular trip to end the stillwater season ( winter appears to be heading our way for Thanksgiving) so I took the day off Friday to see if I could duplicate his success. I used the same flies, same rig and fished the same area... and caught two fish. That's fishing, I guess. But one can't help but wonder why? Was there just a large school of fish that happened to be in the bay on that day? Or is it personality? It could be the later, since one of the two fish I caught stopped thrashing and looked up at me and asked "Hey, where is your friend?"
