I'm cheap (and lazy to boot...if someone else has already done it, I'm not going to reinvent the wheel!) I use SuperFly, and old free program, but it has worked on every Windows platform I've tried (my wife has a Vista computer, but I don't so I know it works on Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP). That has allowed me to transfer files easily once I've upgraded computers. the drawback is that it is near impossible to share specific patterns out of the database individually. To share a whole database, the best bet is to write it the database to a CD and mail it to your friend (the databases can get wuite large, over 20 MB, so e-mailing them is not a great option). The program has all kinds of features, including an inventory (which I don't use, but probably should).
You can find SuperFly at http://www.erobillard.com/SuperFly/ Mark Delaney scott bearden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Is this a program you made, or something we can all buy? What is the name of this software and where can we find it? I am sure many people would be interested in it. These are mostly copies or printouts from websites, I visited. But what with patterns, we 'invent' or learn from friends? I started to write my own little doc or pdf files, where I write down these information. I feel, that it is not sufficient, to have these information of electronic media like a hard drive. disk drives may crash or the information might get unavailable due to software changes. And: How exact do you write down the information? Including tying steps ot just the plain material lists?
