I use UTC thread 140 denier wrapped flat for creating underbodies on ATS
flies.

For tapered under bodies I use the cheap floss from a craft/sewing  
shop. On the smaller trout flies I find this to be the best. For large  
flies I use wool because its cheaper than chenille.
