        I'm aware of that with regard to FM stereo, but with the acronym salad
that has become television audio (MTS, DBX, SAP, NICAM, etc) i have no
idea what's what, or how it's encoded. 

        Somehow, he's ending up with SAP whenever it's available, and it's
unclear to me how an analog decoder would select it.
