Gerd et al.:

For quite some time I have been struggling with the analogue coaxial
input on my Hauppauge WinTV PCI video capture card. The card was bought
in Germany.

I have email Gerd a few times about the messages my kernel prints when
I try to play video from my tuner:

Oct 7 18:25:21 dragon kernel: msp3400: chip reset failed, penguin on i2c bus?
Oct 7 18:25:21 dragon kernel: msp34xx: I/O error #1 (write 0x12/0x08)
Oct 7 18:25:21 dragon kernel: msp34xx: I/O error #2 (write 0x12/0x08)
Oct 7 18:25:21 dragon kernel: msp34xx: I/O error #3 (write 0x12/0x08)
Oct 7 18:25:21 dragon kernel: msp34xx: giving up, reseting chip. Sound will go off,
sorry folks :-|

Gerd has tweaked the i2c related code a few times, but to no avail.
I am currently using version 0.7.80 with Linux 2.4.10. I have also
tried bttv 0.8.28 with all of 0.7.80's supporting modules.

Luckily, the composite input works fine on the card. If I use the
composite input video and audio play nicely. In this case, though,
the audio is already split from the video signal before it reaches the
Hauppauge card.

A very verbose log, produced with the msp3400 and
i2c-algo-bit drivers at a debug level of two, is available at
http://www.flyn.org/random/msp3400.log. I didn't want to include it in
this message because of its size, but I am hoping that someone on this
list can use it to shed some light on my problem.

Thanks!
