Right, but as per the notes at http://bytesex.org/patches/: videodev my videodev changes: * allows v4l drivers to use a struct file_operations directly. * Adds a generic ioctl wrapper for ioctl arg userspace copying. You need this one for bttv 0.8.x and saa7134. So one does need to apply the videodev patch, which does modify kernel source which means you need to build a new kernel before you can get bttv 0.8.x working.
