ask for the web address of my site, so I did not give it. I didn't
count two more of them where I only used 10 seconds of audio at the
beginning for the intro.. which would have totalled it up to $200. Is
that wrong do you think? I guess if he decides to visit my site and
thinks I owe him for those, I'll have to pay. This was all for past
violations.. including one that hadn't even been up for 24 hours. The
terms are all clearly written.
I've been thinking about this for the past two days now. What upsets
me about this site is first of all, the name. Secondly, it's way too
easy to just go and start downloading without looking at the terms. I
think they should have you register on their site and make sure you
have read the terms before you download anything... maybe even a popup
that forces you to read the terms...? You could even pay as you
download. I really can't see many people willing to pay this kind of
money for using this music on a personal website/blog/podcast. It's
almost like it's set up to trap people. I've heard back from several
of you off list who are making the same mistake I made... so it's not
just me.
Anyway, I'm still upset about this as you can probably tell... I'll
stop now. If any of you are using Freeplay Music, unless you are
willing to pay $25 a pop, I would suggest taking it down!
One thing I've learned from all of this... Why not help the people who
are putting free music up for us to use? They get credited, and we get
free music. Who can lose? There is plenty of podsafe music out there.
