Lessig recently cited an experiment, i think in Wired mag, on how they tried to legally publish on the net he and friends singing 'Happy Birthday' to another friend.  Quick conclusion- it cost almost $1,000 *if* they were granted permission... which they were at first but then they were denied the license agreement in the end.
