The problem with seeing the history in that way is that there is never
actually a 'pure' rejection of any particular topic or idea here, its
just different human beings talking, arguing.

Perceptions differ. Personalities cloud the issues. A personal clash,
someone like me having a rant and being unpleasant towards someone
else because of reasons personal to me and my worldview, can come
across as part of a wider rejection by 'the group' of an entire topic
like 'money' or 'business' or 'marketing' or 'corporations'.

The couple of clashes Ive had with a couple of people have been one
example, other people have had their clashes, had their rants.

Sometimes it boils down to people criticising specific elements of the
business thats being talked about, and criticism often hurts.
Sometimes individuals will make large and sweeping statements about
their own beliefs about whats right and wrong, both in the world, and
this list.

Apart from the few specific spam-type practices that are easy calls to
make, theres not going to be groupwide agreement on any aspect of how
money/business etc should be discussed here and how much it all means
to videoblogging.

Anyway one things for sure, anybody who says anything here will
potentially receive feedback from an unknown number of unknown humans
who may respond in unknown ways. Expect feedback! I would say that
anybody should be welcome here to talk about anything that remotely
relates to vieoblogging, but they should always be aware that anybody
else has the right to respond, and sometimes it might not be a
positive response.

Getting flamed feels worse than its supposed to.

Perhaps people are less afraid to criticise business practices because
they see these things as depersonalised. Its easier to tell someone
youve been offended by their ugly marketing than it is to tell someone
else that they have an ugly nose or their video is boring as hell or
some other personal critique.

But the reality is that there are people behind all of these business
practices, and so even if the criticism is easier to deliver, and the
stakes seem higher, human suffering can still result.

These are just some of the phenomenon that make me deeply regret my
spats with a few people, and although it wasnt just me, I totally
reject the idea that the videoblogging group had either anti-business
or anti-women traits totally inherent in it as a group, that drove
people away. Some specific people said things which caused some other
specific people to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome and so they left.
Post-event respresentation of these events as being on a collosal epic
ideological level by some, especially the idea that I was/am somehow
anti-women, and so the fairer sex needs a place to shelter on the net
to discuss things free from the brutish ways of man. Argh it just
makes me want to setup the irrelevent-groin group, because this is a
text based group where frankly the only thing that counts is what we
write here. Not our past, our status, whats between our legs, or
anything else.

Oops ranting sorry
