I'm not so sure about this. It's one of those truisms that it doesn't matter who you vote for, if someone else chooses all the candidates. >From an outside-the-USA perspective, there seems very little difference between (for example) the presidential candidates on offer at the last election. All the US politicians and parties that I have heard or read about would count as "right wing" (nationalist, monetarist, anti-socialist, etc.) in most European countries. Even if everyone in New Orleans would have voted for a president with a platform of public support for, and major investment in, health and social welfare, such an option would never reach the ballots. Back on to the origional topic: To my mind one of the biggest forces we as videobloggers can bring to bear on things like this is to help spread genuine information about how things are in other countries and cultures.
