I use WordPress for LeanBackVids.com and we're able to declare a media enclosure without having to link directly to the file. Even if I do not add the enclosure, WordPress is ususally smart enough to do it for me.
Not sure about the "obvious permalink" though. Either way, we've never noticed a problem. Personally, I'd recommend vloggers embed their movies as well as provide a directly link (maybe at the bottom).
