Thank you Markus. Even though the doc has a "psd" suffix, my Mac was  
set to open it in Preview where the 4 layers were invisible. This is  
the first file of its type I have ever received with that clever  
multi-layer approach to combining files into one. So you're right. I  
wasn't understanding what it was and how Photoshop is required to see  
it all.
