>From wikipedia: The word television is a hybrid word, created from both Greek and Latin. Tele- is Greek for "far", while -vision is from the Latin visio, meaning " vision" or "sight"

So literally, far-vision/sight. The problem is television means much more than that to people today, as it also includes the programming behind it. Word association with any friend or stranger: Say television, they say _______________. See what I mean?

The potential is much more than what TV means today. I see it as what Gutenberg did with the grape press. Renaissance anyone?

of television?  Tele--to hear, and vision--to see, right?
