But why does it have to be random chance?  I'd like to be able to go to a 
site where people I knew compiled lists by categories so I could check out, 
say, "1980s type music" or some other category that interested me.  It could 
be collaborative.  Obviously, it would have to have many people compiling 
and recommending.

However, it couldn't be an "open free space" like this list because you'd 
get all kinds of people dropping in and saying "see my latest fabulous 
vlog".
