The challenge for windows users is that ALOT of windows programs that claim to export to QT, dont actually use QT Pro if its installed. They launch some ... work around like QT making wizard. The editor I use exports to MOV, but it doesn't give me the option QT does. :-(
QT Pro works great in windows ... but has no good editing (timelines I mean) ability itself ... I've been able to do the export to AVI thing, but even then it's hard to find a good editor in windows if you ask me. 1 editor I have wont read AVIs from my digital still cam 1 editor I have craps out if you even whisper QT near the PC (Even though its supposed to support QT) 1 editor I have will output a QT (sometimes) but doesnt allow you to mess with the settings or codecs like QT Pro would Several editors I have seem to work really well but provide only 1 track to use in edits ... which is useless *for me*... otherwise I'd just use movie maker. Another editor I have will output QT ... but not with any audio compression. the editor I prefer at the moment usually works with the Uncompressed-AVI option which I then send to QT ... but even it fails sometimes. At the moment it will not export one GREAT vlog I've had in the wings for months now without crashing the system (even to uncompressed avi). Avid wont run on my system (something about an OpenGL conflict) I have a big beefy computer ... it really shouldnt be this hard :-P I've wasted alot of time and money that maybe would have been better spent on something like premier ... but I was going for an easier interface. I've tried premier elements, and didnt REALLY like it ... although I cant remember any GLARING problems. This premier elements 2 thing ... anyone know how many tracks of audio and video it offers, and know if it will read motionJpeg AVIs (from a digital still camera)??
