It would be nice to think that everyone who has a computer knows everything they need to stay safe online. We all know that isn't the case. (That's why viruses spread so easily.) And most teenagers are more comfortable and savvy with technology than their parents. A kid who wants to can easily hoodwink most parents.

In the case of Justin the teen porn star, he got the webcams etc. paid for by his clients, via an Amazon wish list, and he hid them from his mother.

Do you have a teenager? If so, could you swear that you know what's in every nook and cranny of their room?

LOL. Are you with your child 24 hours a day, overseeing their every moment? It just ain't humanly possible, and, even if it was, it wouldn't be healthy for either party.

I'm not saying there's no solution (my own solution is detailed on http://beginningwithi.com/tech/kidsonline.html), and I do agree that parents need to TRY to be aware of what their kids are up to, and are ultimately responsible. But expecting any parent, let alone one who's not tech-savvy, to be able to monitor their child's every online moment is just unrealistic.
