Easier, yes, but creating QuickTime on Windows is not THAT big a deal. My own process is to edit my raw DV footage in Roxio VideoWave and export it again as DV (I think Windows Movie Maker also does this, and it's free). I then drag the file onto QuickTime Pro (which cost me all of 30 bucks) and say "Export to iPod". Someone on this group recently mentioned a free tool that should also accomplish this.
