Wahey all the answers peopl have given you so far are good stuff. I will just add a little waffle about the implications of using .mp4 on your blog rather than mpeg4 in a .mov file.
As David said, problems can arise on some PCs if no default app (or a rubbish default app) is set to open .mp4 files. A solution to this is to always embed your video in your blog so that it plays in quciktime in the browser. This will also get round another problem, that also affects .mov files as well. Internet Explorer will not 'fast start' a mp4 or mov if it is just linked to, it downloads the whole thing before it appears in the browser. If you use code to embed the quicktime player in a page, this problem doesnt happen, the video will fast-start. Another potential problem is if the server where you host your .mp4 files hasnt been setup to properly identify the mimetype of .mp4's. Dont worry about this if you arent hosting the clips yourself as most video hosting services should of sorted this issue out by now (though it reoccured when apple decided to do the silly .m4v extension intead of .mp4) The real advantages of using .mp4 instead of .mov will only materialise fully in the future if/when: There are more hardware players that support .mp4 but not .mov There are lots of non-apple apps that can encode .mp4 (this is already happening) There are lots of non-apple apps that can playback .mp4 (already happening but fairly slowly, and theres no decent alternative to quicktime for playing .mp4 inside the browser) Advantages that .mov has over .mp4 are mostly to do with stuff like chapters, SMIL and other features that .mov files may support that .mp4 does not. These issues dont affect quality of video, and most people dont use them anyway, but for those that do its gonna make mp4 unsuited to their needs.
