Hi everyone, This is Tiffiniy Cheng from Participatory Culture and Downhill Battle (participatoryculture.org and dtvmac.com). It's really great that there are so many new people in this group and videoblogging is building so much mainstream steam. To this end of promoting videoblogging, self-publishing and the proliferation of videos, we have been working on a simple video republishing site for everyone to use and we thought some of you might be interested in it. We released this web app and our latest baby today -- Videobomb.
http://videobomb.com Videobomb combines aspects of the news site digg.com and the bookmarking site del.icio.us to make a democratic playground for video. People can submit videos and vote ("bomb") their favorites onto the front page. Your favorite videos go to your own personal channel, that your friends and you can watch in video players like DTV or iTunes. (In case you missed our announcement yesterday, we're releasing DTV for Windows on February 21st. We've got a working Windows version right now, and there's just a little clean up left before release. There will be a new and better Mac version the same day, designed especially to work with Videobomb.) The two primary functions of Video Bomb are to help people find the best videos on the web in one convenient place and to be able to quickly make a feed of their favorite videos. We think people will see the best of the best videos, videoblogs, etc. and be introduced to new sites and videoblogs that they wouldn't otherwise be introduced to. Like Digg.com, Video Bomb can be a growing community of video enthusiasts who share their favorite videos in more than one way. If you like (or don't like) Video Bomb, please drop us a note or submit your own videoblog and see how it goes. Soon, you'll be able to submit whole feeds to Video Bomb and we'll also be rolling out a bookmarklet in a couple of weeks. You can write to tyc(at) pculture.org. I'd love to see more of your videoblogs. Sincerely, Tiffiniy Cheng Yahoo!
