If you use FeedBurner: - Log in to your feedburner account - Click on the feed you want to deal with - Click the Optimize tab - Click the "Feed Image Burner" link on the bottom left - Change image source to "specify custom image URL" - Enter the image URL (image should be no bigger than 144px tall or wide) - Enter a title for the image and a link (where it will point to if someone clicks it) - Click "Activate" - Done.
