When I asked the question that started this thread my thinking was
this:

The cooperative would not be competition for Blip or Ourmedia. I,
personally, want Blip to survive and thrive -- more competition for
big commerical media, more better in my view. The purpose of the
cooperative would be to pool the money we're spending on our
individual hosting accounts and then, through the greater purchasing
power of the pooled funds, secure better terms from an ISP with more
bandwidth for the pool. Blip, in this way, could easily be a partner
to those negotiations as could Vlogdir, Ourmedia, Mefeedia, RB and
anyone else.

Of course, that sort of arrangement very quickly begs the question,
why not buy our own pipe? Why not buy dedicated servers and
administrate them ourselves. Well does makes us a Blip competitor.
But that wasn't my intention. I just thought: pool funds, get better
deal. Video blogging is going to grow in popularity. There will be
more downloads and, even with some of the "better" hosting options,
many of us will start to have bandwidth issues as this happens.
Using Blip's services and Ourmedia and Internet ARchive is one set of
tools in the kit, a cooperative is another.
