I think now that literally everyone is equipped with the same tools it
will become a game of who can be heard the loudest among all of the
noise out there.
Well the loud voices will almost always be big $/big media. Who knows that you can get Desperate Housewives on your iPod vs who knows you can get Ryanne Hodson? I'm hoping that once everyone is equiped with the same tools they'll have a better understanding of how media works. Then they'll know they that have other choices. They'll realize that they can do things other than consume. Maybe some of them will start to communicate with each other or make art or just document thier lives. This is where competition becomes irrelevant. Sure there will always be things that are more popular than others but maybe there will be a chance that some of those things will just fucking fantastic instead of well marketed.
