i doubt much has been optimized yet and optimization generally leads to more complex code and more bugs, so expect a fair number of updates

also the graphics chip is an embedded Intel i950, and so the  performance won't be as good as the new iMacs or  MacBook Pros, but definitely better than the previous Mac Mini

Yeah 64MB Intel shouldnt be a significant imparement to 2D video
playback, otherwise Apple wouldnt bundle frontrow with th new Mac Mini.

Quite how well this new Mac Mini performs will come down to how well
softwar has been optimised for the Intel processors as much as
anything else.

Honestly, for most video playback without significant contention for
main memory, that setup is more than adequate, especially if there's a
reasonably large amount of main RAM. I use my laptop as a media center
PC hooked up to my LCD HDTV, and it has "64 MB of pure crap Intel
onboard shared video memory".

Somehow, with 64MB of pure crap Intel onboard shared video memory, I
dont think so.

No new video iPod. A new Mac Mini and a iPod

Boom-box were announced

today though.

Which brings up the question, is this a big step in
video aggregation?

If I've read it right, I can connect a Mac mini to
my TV, and then use
iTunes on any Mac on my home network to subscribe to
videoblogs, and
then watch them on my TV. Easily.

Granted, this takes the blogging out of
videoblogging made possible by
FireAnt and other (better!) video aggregators, but
this seems to pull it
all together in an easy to use package.

Thoughts?
