(One thing I note in the new dreamweaver, which creates these players automatically, there is a quick start option, like for .mov files, and I'm not sure if that is possible with .swf).

FLV is the Flash Video File Format. SWF is the file format for Flash
applications. You create a SWF player for viewing the FLV file in the
Flash development environment. FLV can't be viewed on it's own, it
needs a player to access it. Similar to MP4 requires the quicktime or
windows media player to view the mp4 file, FLV requires a SWF
application to view it.
