I've had the HC1 for about five months now and have been very happy with 
it. The battery life is great, the lense amazing, and the sound always 
surprisingly good as well. Shooting in native 1080i is very fun, though 
still mostly an experiment for me, as I end up outputing everything for 
the web anyhow. The camera itself is medium in size, not good for 
carrying around day-to-day, but still pretty small - i took it on a 
five-day backpacking trip.

iMovie HD 6 worked somewhat well but was *very* slow on my Powerbook G4. 
I am sure it will be better on a Dual Core.
I eventually upgraded to Final Cut Express as it handles HD better on a 
G4. I also often still use the camera in DV mode - you can both shoot or 
just output via DV for editing, keeping the HDV for archive.
