Hi Monique,
> So, you're a pro film maker?
Well I guess that depends on your definition of "pro". I used to work
full time doing for-hire work shooting, editing, consulting, sound
design, etc etc etc, but that has always felt very seperate from my
artwork. Now the day job mostly teaching (I actually get paid to teach
the kinds of films I make, which still seems hard to believe!) and I'm
focusing more on my own stuff.
> Did you edit those videos or just post them as you received them?
They're extremely edited, and in some cases (though not the croquet
one) also messed with in other ways. All of the footage is from an
estate which included hours of old home 16mm films dating back to the
1920's, for which I was the archivist. Everyone we were able to
identify in the footage is no longer around. I'm not trying to just
present the footage, though that would probably be a nice thing too
(and it may turn out to be appropriate for a few entries) - I'm making
found footage films out of them, sort of mini-experimental-essays on
memory, life, death, and the little moments and background things that
get lost. I've been playing with this footage for a long time, and
this just suddenly seemed like the right approach and the right place.
(I'm partly answering your comment on the site, apologies to others
for the lengthy verbiage).
